Geometry for Middle School Teachers (EDDL 259)

3 Semester Hours of Graduate Credit

COURSE OVERVIEW

This online course offers opportunities for participants to increase their knowledge and understanding of the central geometric concepts the Nation Council of Teachers of Mathematics has recommended for middle grade learners: transformations, symmetry, isometries, tessellations, and Pythagorean Theorem. In addition to developing rich curriculum materials for the classroom, these explorations will enable participants to build upon and expand their own understanding of the topics of geometry. Through class discussions, projects, assignments and readings, participants will develop understanding of how middle level students come to learn geometric concepts.
