Course Overview

Reading is a complex system of deriving meaning from print that requires motivation, constructing meaning, sufficient background information and vocabulary to comprehend text, the ability to decode unfamiliar words, the ability to read fluently, and the skills and knowledge to understand how phonemes are connected to print (Snow, Burns, and Griffin, 1998).
