FALL PROTECTION
OSHA requires that fall protection including harness and lanyards be work when working 4 feet above the ground.
There are two types of lanyards: a standard lanyard is worn when working at heights of 4-9 feet.
A soft stop lanyard is worn when working at heights of 10 feet and above. A soft lanyard will drop a person a short distance and then lower the person the rest of the way. This prevents injury to the body.
Lanyards are worn when working on aerial lifts and bucket trucks to prevent falls in the event of a hydraulic or pneumatic failure.
Guarding should be used around holes to prevent people from tripping and falling.
