Sodexo Cleaning System

The Sodexo Cleaning System was first introduced to Drake University in July of 2003.  The system consists of 4 different trained specialists; Utility Specialist, Light Duty Specialist, Vacuum Specialist and Restroom Specialist. Each specialist is trained on a specific task using specific‌ equipment through a 20 hour training course that covers every detail and gets the employee ready to clean for health first and then appearance.

There have been several positive results due to this system.

1. Cleaner buildings
2. Better quality of work
3. Backpack vacuums ‌have increased the longevity of the filters in the HVAC system and limited the amount of dust normally found on horizontal surfaces from using an upright vacuum with a beater bar.
4. Happier staff
5. Management team more motivated; willing to take ownership of the program
6. Accreditation: the first Sodexo award given to Housekeeping Managers
7. Safety is a huge benefit with less injuries and incidents in the Custodial Department.
