Facility Services Employee Safety Committee

The Facilities Services Employee Safety Committee is an employee based safety committee.

The purpose of the Safety Committee is to involve Facilities staff employees in departmental safety.

Committee members' responsibilities are:

1. Communicate safety goals and programs to other Facility employees.
2. Identify unsafe acts and conditions within the Facility employees work areas.
3. Aid in the restructuring of tasks so that the tasks can be accomplished in a safe manner.

Since the inception of the Safety Committee in 2002, incidents for our department have been dramatically reduced.

The committee meets on a monthly basis and discusses several different topics relating to safety. Some of those topics consist of:

1. Review of incidents for the past month
2. Safety inspections scheduled on the Building Safety Inspection Calendar
3. Safety policies
4. Unsafe work practices

Each month the Facilities Department trains all Facility staff on a safety topic. The safety topics are listed on the Annual Safety Education Calendar

Committee members serve on the committee for 2 to 3 years.
