Employee Safety Committee

The Facilities Planning and Management Employee Safety Committee is an employee based safety committee.

The purpose of the Safety Committee is to involve Facilities staff employees in departmental safety.

Committee members' responsibilities are:

  1. Communicate safety goals and programs to other Facilities employees.
  2. Identify unsafe acts and conditions within the Facilities employees work areas.
  3. Aid in the restructuring of tasks so that the tasks can be accomplished in a safe manner.

Since the inception of the Safety Committee in 2002, incidents for our department have been dramatically reduced.

The committee meets on a monthly basis and discusses several different topics relating to safety. Some of those topics consist of:

  1. Review of incidents for the past month
  2. Safety inspections are scheduled monthly
  3. Safety policies
  4. Unsafe work practices

Each month the EHS department trains all Facilities staff on a safety topic and meets with the committee to discuss incidents and policy.

Committee members serve on the committee for 2 to 3 years.
