Award: $10,000

Eligibility: Upper division undergraduates and graduate students (Masters or Ph.D.) of accredited universities/colleges. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment, either through coursework or experience, to any combination of at least two of the following fields: Early Childhood Education, Child Development/Child Psychology, Film/Television Production, Music, or Animation. Applicant must have the ultimate goal of working in the field of children’s media.

Iowa Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (IAHPERD)
Deadline: March (Annually)
Award: There are 2 scholarships being offered in the amount of $1,000 each

Eligibility: Applicant must be an undergraduate student who is planning to enter the Physical Education, Health (non-medical), Recreation, or Dance profession. Applicant must be of at least sophomore standing, enrolled in an Iowa college or university. Applicant must have a GPA of at least 2.5. Applicants should be involved in student activities and professional organization. Applicant must be a member of IAHPERD ($15.00).

Apply: Applications for the scholarship and to join the IAHPERD can be picked up in the Office of Student Financial Planning located in Carnegie Hall.

Iowa College Student Aid Commission Forgivable Loans for Teachers
Deadline: Various (Annually)
Award: Up to $3,000 per academic year; $9,000 in total of forgivable loans

Eligibility: Applicant must be an Iowa resident enrolled at least half-time in a shortage area education program. Applicant must also file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Obligations: Teach in an Iowa shortage area for 5 years to have 100 percent of loan forgiven (Twenty percent of loan will be forgiven each year that you teach in a shortage area).
