Award:  $1,000

Eligibility: Student must be currently enrolled in an accredited healthcare program leading to licensure or a clinical laboratory degree such as pharmacy. Student must have completed at least six months of their healthcare program. Students must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) for diploma or undergraduate programs and at least part-time (minimum 6 credit hours) for graduate programs. Eligible student reside in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital service area of Black Hawk, Butler, Grundy, Hardin and Tama counties. Cumulative post-secondary GPA maintained at 3.0 or higher.

Iowa Hospital Education Research Foundation
Deadline: March 14, 2008
Award: $100-$6,000

Eligibility: Student must be enrolled in an accredited health care program such as pharmacy. Student must be currently within two years of completing professional education. Student must be committed to work for an Iowa hospital for one year upon graduation.

National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Deadline: February (Annually)
Award: Up to $20,000, scholarships are awarded for one year and can be renewed up to four years

Eligibility: Have GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or be within the top 5% of your class.  Be U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or qualified non-citizen (eligible to work in U.S.). Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student for the 2006-2007 academic year at an accredited 4-year undergraduate institution. Be from a disadvantaged background. Disadvantaged background means that you come from a low-income family (see website for more information). Priority is given to students who have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate course work including biology, chemistry, physics, and calculus (or are currently sophomores and/or juniors).
