The worldwide web is an excellent source for financial assistance, scholarships and fellowships. Some suggested websites include:

College Planning Center
This non-profit organization provides free information, assistance, counseling, and support to college-bound students and their families as they plan for college and apply for financial aid.

Iowa College Student Aid Commission
The Iowa College Student Aid Commission administers state of Iowa funded scholarships and grants and also serves as the guarantor for federal guaranteed student loans in Iowa. This website contains valuable information for students and parents about applying for financial aid.  ICSAC has also published a 2007 Higher Education Tax Benefits fact sheet.

College Board
This scholarship search is sponsored by the College Board and searches a database of more than 2,000 undergraduate scholarships, internships, and loan programs based on your education level, talents, and background.

Mapping Your Future
This site sponsored by a group of educational loan guaranty agencies provides valuable information on selecting a school, planning a career, and paying for school. This site also offers students the opportunity to complete Entrance and Exit student loan counseling sessions on-line.

FastWEB
Used by colleges and universities nationwide, FastWEB offers a free, searchable database of more than 180,000 private sector scholarships, fellowships, grants and loans.

SRN Express
SRN Express is a free Web version of the Scholarship Resource Network database. The SRN database focuses on portable, private-sector, non-need-based financial aid. Its award listings contain more detailed information than can be found in most scholarship databases and scholarship listing books.

CollegeNET MACH25
CollegeNET MACH25 is a free Web version of the Wintergreen/Orchard House Scholarship Finder database. It contains listings of more than 600,000 private-sector awards.

FinAid
This free Web site is a comprehensive listing of financial aid resources including information on loans, scholarships, military aid, along with a free scholarship search.

The Student Guide
The most comprehensive resource on student financial aid from the U.S. Department of Education. Grants, loans, and work-study are the three major forms of student financial aid available through the federal Student Financial Assistance Programs. Updated each award year, The Student Guide tells you about the programs and how to apply for them.

Outside Scholarship Database
The Office of Student Financial Planning maintains a list of national and local scholarship opportunities. Details regarding these scholarships, including eligibility requirements and applications deadlines, can be found at the above link.

DRAKE FINAID-L
The Office of Student Financial Planning’s listserv, DRAKE FINAID-L will advise students of scholarship opportunities, communicate application priority deadlines and provide information regarding the financial aid process.
