The Community Service Program is a Federally funded program that offers work-study positions in non-profit and government agencies. The Community Service program aims to improve the quality of life for community residents. Only students with work-study awards may apply for Community Service positions.
If you accept a Community Service position and have not been previously employed at Drake, you must complete federal and state employment forms. Forms may be completed at Human Resources, 1331 27th Street. You will need to bring documentation with you for employment eligibility and identification purposes. Forms must be completed by the date of hire.

Children attend from 3:30 - 5:30pm. Aide will also assist with set-up, food preparation, and clean up. Aide will supervise children participating in games, food preparation, reading, and outdoor recreation. Student must be 18 and able to pass background check. Must enjoy 5-11 year olds, and preference is given to those with experience with elementary children. Student must be flexible and have a willing spirit to help wherever needed. Student must be work-study eligible. Position available September 16 - November 18 and February 3 - April 28. Wage: $10/hour.

Student will assist in recruiting youth and volunteers to participate in the school based program. Student will also assist in recording information in files and in databases. Assistant will contact matches (volunteers and kids) on a regular basis to conduct supervision. Assistant will also assist with basic office work: filing, faxing, typing, and making phone calls, as well as preparing packets, flyers, mailings, etc. Student should have experience working with children, excellent communication skills, and strong computer skills. Student should have the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals and have good organizational skills. Student should be able to provide own transportation. Must be available 2:30 - 5:00pm at least 3 or 4 afternoons a week. Student must be work-study eligible. Wage: $8 - $10/hour
