CHARACTER COUNTS! In Iowa strives to help Iowans practice good character through the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring & Citizenship.

Through a statewide partnership with the national CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition, and the Institute for Excellence & Ethics, CHARACTER COUNTS! In Iowa impacts our state through a variety of ways:

CHARACTER COUNTS! in Families: Parents want their children to be of strong character, and good character does not just happen. It is an outcome of the efforts of parents who lay a strong foundation of good character.

CHARACTER COUNTS! in Communities: Cities and towns throughout Iowa have passionately adopted the Six Pillars of Character. Efforts range from helping Little League coaches teach good sportsmanship to posting CC! banners throughout the community, and much more!

CHARACTER COUNTS! in Workplaces: Many Iowa companies are implementing CHARACTER COUNTS! in the workplace by including the Six Pillars in their corporate values and educating their staffs and boards on making ethical decisions.

CHARACTER COUNTS! in Schools: We work hand-in-hand with thousands of Iowa educators to incorporate character education into their school, athletic and youth programs.

CHARACTER COUNTS! In Iowa and Iowa's Smart & Good Schools are projects of the Institute for Character Development at Drake University.
