Faculty Development Fund

An important objective of the Center for Global Citizenship at Drake University is to enhance the international experiences and understanding of Drake faculty and students. Drake faculty are encouraged to submit proposals to the Center for activities that promote global perspectives. Activities may include, but are not limited to, the acquisition of international materials for classroom use, honoraria for speakers presenting different cultural perspectives, and registration and travel costs for faculty who wish to attend international conferences (funding is not available for travel normally covered by college travel budgets).

Full or part-time faculty may submit proposals to the Center throughout the academic year.  However, all expenditures must be completed by April 15 of the current academic year.  Faculty should plan up to 3 weeks for the review and notification of proposal awards.  The Center for Global Citizenship will evaluate each proposal based on the following criteria:

  • How does it broaden the global experiences and perspectives of the faculty applicant?
  • How does the experience or activity affect Drake students?
  • What benefits will the grant provide to the Drake community (e.g., other faculty members, staff, community organizations, student groups, etc.)?

Awards: $100 - $1,250.00.
Deadline: Proposals will be accepted and awarded throughout the academic year.  Funds must be spent during current fiscal year (June 1 through April 15).
Requirements: Submit one copy of the completed proposal (see form below; please print) to David Skidmore, Director of the Center for Global Citizenship. A one page report that describes the activities and experiences supported by the grant. Reports should be sent to the Director of the Center for Global Citizenship.
