Sophos AntiVirus Now Detects and Removes Spyware

Spyware is just now becoming a major problem.  Simply visiting certain web sites will result in little scripts being loaded onto your computer which send information about you back to the site.  The purpose of these scripts may simply be to learn about your web surfing habits.  Other scripts have as their purpose to learn about your personal, financial information.  Either way, spyware is malware.

Drake University has used Sophos Anti-Virus protection for many years.  In response to requests by its customers, Sophos has added code that will detect and remove spyware from your computer. The new spyware detection functionality was added at the beginning of the month and is a part of the current anti-virus signatures that are pushed to your computer during the day.
