Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that does not appear on this page, please send an email to MOLP@drake.edu

How do I know if I qualify for this program?
It varies. It depends on who owns the computer.

If the computer is owned by Drake University, it is covered by the Agreement. See University owned computers.

If the computer is owned by a student and the student is currently enrolled in a program of studies leading to a diploma, degree, certificate or other formal award, it is covered by the Agreement. You can be part-time or full-time; you can be working on campus or off. See student owned computers.

If the computer is owned by a member of the Drake University faculty or staff, it is covered by the Agreement. See faculty and staff owned computers.

Does it matter if students are going to school part-time or off-campus?

No. Part-time and off-campus students may also participate in the program. The key qualifier is that students must be currently enrolled in a program of studies leading to a degree, diploma, certificate or other formal award from Drake.

When and how do I receive my software?

If the computer is owned by Drake, contact one of the authorized software installers.

If the computer is owned by a student, a special roll out program will be provided when software is delivered. For off-campus students in a cohort program of studies, arrangements will be made with course instructors for the distribution of software.

Procedures for the distribution to faculty will be announced shortly after the student software is distributed.

Who do I call for installation instructions?

For student, faculty and staff owned computers, you will receive installation instructions when you receive the software. For University owned computers, the authorized software installers will perform the installations.

Who do I call for support assistance?

For assistance on how to use any software, call the HelpDesk (x3001) or, if applicable, your local technical support staff.

What happens when I leave the University or graduate?

Departing students may have licenses for the software they received transferred from Drake University to themselves. Transferring the license will entitle students to use the software in perpetuity. However, subsequent upgrades must be purchased from a commercial retailer. To transfer licenses, students should come to the Academic Computing offices (located in the lower level of Carnegie Hall) about 1 week before they expect to leave or graduate.

Departing faculty and staff must delete any software they received as part of the Agreement from their systems.

Are upgrades Available and how do I get them?

As they become available, Microsoft will send Drake software upgrades. At that time, procedures for obtaining the software will be announced via Drake email.
