How to use Webmail

Webmail is simply another way to access Drake's email system. Webmail has many features and is very
user friendly. Below are some short 30-60 second video clips on the most common questions asked of
Webmail. If you don't see a video listed for something you'd like to know how to do in Webmail,
please call the Support Center for assistance at *3001 or email them.

The following videos are in flash format. If you do not have the Flash Player Plugin installed,
please visit Adobe to download and install the latest version.

How to create and use filters, whether for SPAM or other email.

SPAM - 2 best practices:

  • Sign up for the Quarantine Service the OIT department offers.
When your account is on the quarantine service, you will receive 1 daily digest of messages that the server  deemed SPAM (probability detected of 20% or greater). You may select any or all of those messages to travel on to your Inbox and no longer be considered SPAM, or if the server correctly noted those messages as SPAM, you need only deleted the digest message. Using this service severely limits the amount of SPAM you see in your Inbox and helps keep your account size below acceptable limits. To take advantage of this service, please call the Drake Support Center at *3001 or email them and request to take part in our "quarantine email service". To read a more in depth explanation of how the server identifies SPAM, please read our SPAM page.

  • Create filters in your mailbox as described in the above video.
With these filters turned on, suspected SPAM messages will be routed past your inbox to a designated folder, but they will still be counted towards your mailbox limit.

Please visit the student email policies page for important information regarding your account.
