Calendar Services

Oracle Calendar

Oracle Calendar is scheduling software that allows people to maintain personal calendars, "to do" lists, and arrange meetings with other Oracle Calendar users on the Drake network. Oracle Calendar provides easy access to calendars and maintains them on a special server.  This allows users to:

  • run Oracle Calendar on their personal computer

  • synchronize their calendars with their PalmPilots

Because information is maintained on a university server, Oracle Calendar can also be used to maintain departmental calendars and inform other Oracle Calendar users about upcoming events.

Information recorded in Oracle Calendar is password protected much like e-mail. In addition, users can select between three levels of privacy for individual entries, thus, allowing them to customize the degree to which information can be viewed by others.

Obtaining an Oracle Calendar account and desktop client software

OIT has purchased a supply of Oracle Calendar licenses and software. To obtain a license and the software, people should contact Patsy Johnson (x2453). If you use Microsoft Outlook and/or a PDA (e.g., PalmPilot), you should also convey that information.

Software for Macintosh and Windows-PC users is available can be downloaded and installed on any Drake-owned computer on campus. The software can only be used by people who have a valid account.  Installation instructions are available.
