E-mail Account Information
Student Accounts
Student e-mail accounts are generated automatically following registration for classes and do not require any action on the part of the student. Students may locate their e-mail usernames by accessing Drake MyDUSIS. Click on Enter Secure Area. Enter User ID and PIN and click Login button. Click on Personal Information and then click View E-mail Addresses.
The original password for an e-mail account is the month, day and year of birth, specified in the following numerical format: MMDDYY. For example, if a student were born January 13, 1985, the initial password is: 011385. An e-mail password may be changed using any desktop client, such as Eudora or Outlook, or through web access at: http://webmail.drake.edu.
Students should familiarize themselves with Drake University Student E-mail Policies. The disk space on the mail server occupied by mail messages may be checked by accessing the E-mail Quota Manager.
Student e-mail accounts are retained until graduation or withdrawal from the University. Accounts are removed approximately six weeks after graduation. However, an account may be retained a brief time for a graduate seeking employment and using the Drake e-mail account for potential employer contact. Contact Patsy Johnson (X2453) or patsy.johnson@drake.edu for arrangements prior to graduation. If a student withdraws from the University, the account will be removed once we are notified by the Student Records and Academic Information Office.
Faculty and Staff Accounts
An application form for requesting faculty, staff, student staff and office e-mail accounts is available on the web. Applicants must provide their name, classification, department, office phone and Drake ID so that it may be verified. By the end of the next business day, we will contact the applicant by phone with e-mail account information.
E-mail accounts for staff who leave the University, including retirees, will be removed very shortly after the date of separation from the University. Questions on this should be directed to Patsy Johnson (x2453).
Faculty who leave the University should contact Patsy Johnson (x2453) to make transition arrangements. Otherwise, arrangements will be made based upon conversation with the appropriate Dean's office.
Emeritus Faculty Accounts
Faculty who transition to the status of emeritus may retain their e-mail accounts. Emeriti who do not wish to retain their Drake e-mail account or who, instead, want their messages forwarded to some other account should contact Patsy Johnson (x2453) so that the proper arrangements may be made. Normally, emeriti are not included in the Drake University bulk mailing lists. We periodically review account usage and may verify at a later date that the account is still needed.
