A networked directory of Drake student, faculty and staff information is available for use as an aid in sending e-mail messages. One may search for information by name or department.
Directory services are accessible in conjunction with several popular email clients, including Eudora and Outlook. Complete information about configuring your e-mail client to use directory services is available.
When performing a name lookup, you may enter a last name and/or a first name. To prevent scavenging our database, there is a limit to the number of entries displayed. Therefore, a common last name, like “Smith” will require a first name; whereas, a less common last name, such as “Taltevall” will not.
Our directory service database is updated automatically on weekdays, according to the following scheme:
- Students are added following registration for a course.
- Faculty/staff names are added when they are entered in the Human Resources system.
- Student names are removed when they withdraw, graduate or are no longer in attendance.
- Faculty/staff entries are removed when a clearance is posted by Human Resources.
- Faculty/staff are removed when they are removed from the Human Resources system due to a leave of absence or departure from the University.
Any member of the Drake University community may request that their directory service information be kept private. Students make this request through the Registrar’s Office. Faculty and staff should contact Human Resources. Similarly, requests for changes to the information displayed should be directed to the appropriate office.
