The ITS Project Management team works collaboratively with campus to deliver technology solutions that support university goals. We help meet technology needs by guiding project prioritization (Portfolio Management) and utilizing project management tools and practices to complete projects on time and within budget.
We recognize the best methodology for Drake is one that is continually and organically improving and adapting. In collaboration with campus partners, we strive to identify and leverage processes that enable us to deliver quality solutions on time and within budget.
A project is a temporary endeavor with a beginning, an end, and a defined set of deliverables. It creates a unique product or service and is not a routine operation. At Drake, we categorize requests as projects or enhancements. Projects are generally new technology or significant system changes, while enhancements are generally improvements to existing technology.
A portfolio is a high-level view of all the projects an organization is running in order to meet its primary strategic goals. Project Portfolio Management (PPM) provides a framework for new project selection and oversight of current projects.
