Student Technology Resources

Here’s how to connect with technology at Drake.

The Basics

Your Drake ID: This nine-digit number is essential to logging into your computer, your email, and our portal, blueView.

Your Password: You can change your password as often as you'd like, but every year you’ll receive an email from ITS prompting you to change it using the Drake Password Manager to keep your information safe. Make sure you set up recovery options in case you ever forget it. This password guide will help you easily make the change.

blueView: blueView is the online destination for announcements, news, and events as well as tools to take care of student business at Drake. Through blueView, you can check your email, view your class schedule and grades, register for classes, access your Blackboard courses, and make payments online.

Email Accounts: All Drake students are issued email accounts, typically Email is accessible from within blueView or at

Computer Recommendations: View school-specific recommendations, computer discount information and suggested accessories.

And More

Blackboard: Blackboard is the online learning management system (LMS) used by Drake.

Game Console/TV Registration: If your device doesn't have a browser you will need to find the MAC address and manually register it using the network registration system. Devices must support WPA2 Enterprise to connect to the wireless network otherwise they will have to connect via a wired ethernet cable. See this game console/tv registration guide for more information.

Network Registration: Students are entitled to eight device registrations on the network. If you need to remove device registrations or are having trouble with the network registration system, please submit a request through the IT Service portal or contact the Support Center.

Printing: Students can upload their documents to the virtual queue at and print at a variety of locations across campus. Full time students receive a $20 printing credit each semester (unused credit expires at the end of each semester). A one-time activation is required to connect your Drake ID card to your printing account. Before you can print or copy the first time, you’ll need to activate your Drake ID card by tapping it on the card reader and entering your Drake User ID number and password. More information can be found in this web printing guide.

IT Service Portal: Having a problem with technology? Want to find out what ITS can do for you? Visit the ITS service portal to learn about technology services available, browse our knowledge base for how-to technology guides, or get assistance with an issue.
