When is the turn of the millennium? According to the U.S. Naval Observatory, the nation's official timekeeper, Jan. 1, 2001. Since our modern calendar, created in Rome AD 526, and recognized throughout the world, began with 1 anno domoni (the year of our Lord), rather than zero. However, as the White House Internet site notes, "much of the world is planning to celebrate on Dec. 31, 1999, when the calendars flip to the year 2000."
At Century's End, we will celebrate the turn of the millennium before, during and after the year 2000. Come inside to see us look back on the past, comment on the present and look to the future.
