Todd has juggled multiple duties as a faculty member and administrator since arriving at Drake in 1984. He has taught every course offered in the Radio/TV major, and regularly teaches Popular Music and Culture classes, including seminars on the Lives and Times of Rock and Roll, The Sixties, and The Beatles.

His students have received national recognition of their productions by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Todd is past-chair of the Communication Technology division, and past-chair of the Juried Faculty Production Competition, for the Broadcast Education Association. Todd's research interests include digital audio for video production and post-production, the culture of popular music, and new media for distributed learning,. He keeps professionally active in both audio and video production, and his work has been recognized by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the Broadcast Education Association, and the American Cancer Society.

As Director of the Drake TeleMedia Center, from 1995 – 2002, Todd was responsible for the overall operations of The College Channel, a 24 hour a day educational access channel within Des Moines, multiple dedicated programming channels on the Drake campus, satellite downlinking and distribution, live studio program production supervision, and live remote television production supervision. He served as the Executive Producer for the Kurt Kanaskie, and Lisa Stone coach's shows, as well as a variety of sports, fine arts and specialty live productions. Todd also served the School of Journalism and Mass Communication as Associate Dean from 1988 - 1995. Education: Bachelor of Arts, Radio and Television, Columbia College, 1974.
