LOCATION: The School of Journalism
and Mass Communication is in Meredith Hall, designed by Ludwig Mies van
der Rohe, in the center of the Drake campus.
OFFICES AND CLASSROOMS: Faculty
offices and classrooms are in Meredith Hall, including the Meredith computer
writing and editing laboratory, Drake University Center for Magazine
Studies, Meredith Magazine Seminar Room, the D. Wayne Rowland Journalism
Library and Reading Room, radio and television production and editing
studios, computer publications and graphics laboratories.
PRODUCTION: Students produce projects
and programs using Drake's fully equipped televison production facility
and radio production labs. Students have access to modern field cameras
and recorders and operate a cable FM-stereo radio station that boradcasts
to campus. Meredith Hall also is headquarters of The Times-Delphic, Drake
Magazine, Des Moines Magazine Group and Drake Integrated Marketing Communication
Advertising and Public Relations firm.
