    Janet Hill Keefer

    Associate Professor



Janet Hill Keefer, Ph. D. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1991.

Dr. Keefer's teaching areas are broadcast journalism, media law, broadcast regulation and telecommunications policy.

She worked as a broadcast reporter and producer for local television stations in Columbus, Ohio, and Birmingham, Alabama, and as a writer and producer for CNN's Washington Bureau. During her stint at CNN, she worked as a producer for anchors Bernard Shaw and John Holliman, and worked as a field producer during the U.S. rescue mission to Grenada and during the campaign of Geraldine Ferraro for Vice President.

Her research interests include low-power television, the First Amendment and telecommunications policy. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Business Record in Des Moines, Iowa, and is a member of the Assocation for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the Broadcast Education Association.
