The Drake University School of Journalism and Mass Communication's E.T. Meredith Center for Magazine Studies will launch a new Web site on Monday, Oct. 1.

"We've packaged together all kinds of resources for students, faculty and professionals in magazine journalism," said Angela Renkoski, assistant professor of journalism and director of the center. "I'm thrilled to be offering all these features and hope that people will engage with us through the Web site."

The site features information about internships and jobs and published work done by students and alumni. Research, industry news and journalism events at the center and on campus will also be highlighted on the site. EdOnCampus, a networking group for the magazine students, also will have a home on the site with events and tips on becoming successful editors.

The first posting of "My Fave Magazine," an interactive section of the site where journalists share their favorite magazine, features Patricia Prijatel, former director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the center and the E.T. Meredith distinguished professor of journalism. Anyone can write in with their favorite magazine, and the site will continue to feature favorites from guest magazine journalists and faculty.

In what Renkoski hopes will become a must-read-and-comment bookmark, the site links to a blog which features five Drake magazine alumni writing about their work experiences in the magazine industry, including work for the Web called "Work In Progress."
