Night Eyes at the Blank Park Zoo

This year is the 17th annual Night Eyes event at the Blank Park Zoo, presented by Prairie Meadows. The “merry not scary” Halloween affair allows for a safe and caring trick or treat environment.
Although not required, costumes are highly recommended. Families walk together through the zoo as 17 stations of volunteers hand out treats along the way. Local businesses, such as Petco and McDonalds, are at each station handing out treats from coupons to candy bars and powerade.
Guests can also take a ride on the Des Moines Area Community College Train as it travels down Citi’s Scarecrow Lane.
Because the zoo is not open for regular business during the event, not all animals are on display for visitors to see. Children can stop to see the seas and feed the goats along the candy-collecting trail.
General admission tickets are only five dollars and three dollars for zoo members. Children one year old and under are free. The last chance to take part in this year’s Night Eyes is next weekend, October 25th through the 28th. Night Eyes hours are 5:30 to 8pm Thursday and Friday and 1 to 8pm Saturday and Sunday. |
