Openness in Iowa
...is a 15-minute videotape that acquaints Iowans with state
laws dealing with access to public records and the right to
attend meetings of government agencies.
ROBERT D. RAY, governor of Iowa from 1969 to 1982, narrates the
video. Joining him are these citizens and public officials
who speak about the importance of asuring government
accountability and public participation in the decisions made
by our schools, cities counties and state agencies:
- GREG JAGER, Bettendorf city attorney
- CAROL MARTIN of Cedar Rapids, a citizen who monitors
government agencies
- PATRICIA BROWN of Ames, a hospital trustee and former
city council member
- JOHN STARK, former Story County sheriff
- MARY LOU HINRICHSEN of DeWitt, a newspaper reporter and
president of the Iowa Press Women
- BILL MERTENS, publisher/editor, The Burlington Hawk Eye
- TOM MILLER, Iowa Attorney General
