Hello there. Welcome to the home page for Journalism 91 at Drake University. This site is
under fairly continuous construction so please return during the semester. Meantime,
you can visit my site on the journalism home page and look at magazine sites on the Internet
courtesy of links provided by the American Journalism Review.

This semester we are going to "enjoy" a four-week Magazine Writing Bootcamp together
in order to quickly prepare you for real-time, real-life article writing. Bootcamp will be a
stringent review and revamping of your writing and editing skills. Never again can you
misspell "it's" and get away with it!

Survivors of Boot Camp will apply to write for one of four magazines selected as our "targets"
for this semester's class. Teams of four to five writer/editors will be assigned as mock staff members
for each of the magazines. Teams will write, edit and present to the class their best work for comment
and critique.

When you complete the course, you should be a ready-for-prime-time magazine writer.
