Dorothy Pisarski
Assistant Professor, Advertising

M.B.A. New York University, B.A. Siena College

Dorothy Skiba Pisarski was born in Brooklyn, NY and spoke only Polish until the first day of kindergarten.  She still speaks in Polish with family and friends, and may even surprise you by using it one day in the classroom!  Since moving to Des Moines, she has had people express surprise about the sound of a Brooklyn accent covering a Polish accent.  You can judge for yourself.

Pisarski earned a BS in marketing/management from Siena College, Albany NY, and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.  She has extensive professional experience in marketing and advertising, in both consumer and industrial products.  Her most recent professional experiences were with Philip Morris USA in Manhattan, where she held several positions in marketing and trade advertising.  Working for several years in marketing in the automotive industry, Pisarski once had to take a class and perform ten brake jobs - 5 disc and 5 drum.  She passed the class but was told not to try it on her own car, however.

When time permits, Pisarski enjoys keeping in contact with friends and family around the globe.  Her schedule includes working as a USSF soccer referee and a church organist, besides being a devoted NY Rangers hockey fan.  Currently, she sits on the marketing committee for the Des Moines Youth Hockey Association, and is quite interested in the developments of Des Moines' future AHL team.
