Sarah joined the staff of the School of Journalism
and Mass Communication in October 2007. She is a native
of Bettendorf, Iowa. After graduation, Sarah went to
work for Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival in Cedar Rapids
as the Public Relations/Volunteer Coordinator and began
her fundraising career coordinating the annual Friends
of the Festival solicitation.
After spending two years at the Festival, Sarah returned
to the Quad Cities to work for Braren Mulder German
Associates, Inc., a fund-raising consulting firm founded
in 1968. Here, she spent 5 1/2 years working with a
variety of non-profit clients including churches, homeless
shelters, museums and other cultural organizations
conducting feasibility studies and consulting on their
capital campaigns.
Sarah moved to Des Moines with her husband in March
2006, where she most recently served as the Executive
Director at the Iowa Historical Foundation, a support
organization of the State Historical Society of Iowa.
She has been enrolled in the School of Journalism and
Mass Communication's Masters of Communiction Leadership
program since August 2006.
