Program Overview
In the 3+3
program, a student is scheduled to complete all Journalism
and Mass Communication course requirements in the first
three years at Drake, including the classes for a specific
undergraduate JMC major. If admitted to the Law School,
the student then counts the Law School courses taken
in the fourth year as constituting the area of concentration
required of all SJMC majors. The fourth year also constitutes
the student's first year of enrollment in Law School.
The 3+3 program prepares students with undergraduate journalism degrees for law school
by providing numerous opportunities for writing, public speaking, and research.
Admission to the 3+3 program is by application to
the dean of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Because of the rigorous nature of the program and the
tight scheduling involved, admission is limited to
exceptional and highly motivated students.
Students with excellent high school records may be
admitted to the program as part of their admission
to the University, provided they are approved by the
dean and a faculty committee. Application to the program
also can be made during the student's first semester
on campus. |
