Magazine Faculty
The members of the journalism faculty are experienced
professionals as well as leading academicians. Assistant
Professor Lori Blachford has been
a journalist for more than 20 years. She has worked
for the Des Moines Register for 7 years and then moved
on to magazines.
Beginning as copy editor for the Better homes
& Gardens Special
Interest publications, then moved to writing and
editing for a variety of titles in the same group.
She continues as a freelance journalist. Kellye Carter Crocker, a visiting professional Freelance
WriterEditor, joins the magazine concentration for
another year teaching magazine writing. Kellye's clients
include Better Homes and Gardens, Parents,
Ladies' Home Journal, The Iowan and numerous other titles.
Visiting professional Jeff Inman, a Freelance
Writer, teaches writing courses and magazine publising.
He has been published in Better Homes and Gardens,
Rolling Stone, Billboard, and Midwest Living among
others.
Associate
professor Lee
Jolliffe,
formerly a writer for Ohio magazine and a manager
in the Battelle Institute publishing division, teaches
magazine graphics courses. Our magazine faculty have
served on the executive board of the magazine division
of the Association for Education in Journalism and
Mass Communication and have been published in leading
consumer and trade magazines and scholarly journals.
