Program
Overview
As News/Internet majors, students gain knowledge
and skills needed for careers in reporting, editing,
management or publishing, on-line and on paper. Graduates
work on newspaper staffs, in the news departments of
other news media and agencies, in public information
positions and in Web site editing positions.
Program Size
Approximately 40 students are enrolled in
the major. Average class size is 12 students.
Awards
The Drake student newspaper, The Times-Delphic won the Associated
Collegiate Press' “best
of show” award in 2004.
Drake News/Internet students are
frequently selected for Dow-Jones editing internships.
In the spring of 2004, Elizabeth Owens was selected
to receive one of Scripps Howard Foundation's $10,000 “Top
Ten” Scholarships.
