Multidisciplinary Emphasis
(12 credit hours)

Students who prefer a more customized and flexible program sequence may opt for the multidisciplinary emphasis.  This emphasis includes four elective courses selected from other MSLD courses in HRM, HRD or Higher Education or approved courses from other Drake University graduate programs in business administration, public administration, communications, counseling, or education. 

Program Concentrations
(15 credit hours)

Graduate Concentration options are offered to students who hold an undergraduate degree and are interested in completing only a select number of courses in an area of interest.  This is not a complete master's program. Please consult the Program Options page for additional information.

Higher Education Concentration

  • MSLD 282: Foundations of Higher Education (3 hours)
  • MSLD 283: The College Student (3 hours)
  • MSLD 284: Seminar in Student Services (3 hours)
  • Elective: Pick two courses from MSLD 243 (Moral Leadership), 245 (Organizational Savvy & Communications), 246 (Business Acumen and Strategy), 247 (Global & Team Leadership), 248 (Organizational Development and Leading Change, 298 (Special Topics) or approved Counseling courses** such as COUN 220 (Career Counseling), COUN 224 (Assessments), and COUN 225 (Human Development)* (6 hours)
