Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology Major
Studio Art and Business Minors

Monango, N.D.

“Who are you?”

My First Year Seminar instructor continually asked us this question. And I’ve spent my time at Drake figuring out the answer.

I came here as a National Alumni Scholar and biochemistry, cell, and molecular biology major with dreams of attending medical school. Since then I’ve changed my trajectory, and I’ve discovered much more about myself. For example, through my involvement in the Student Activities Board and Student Senate, I found I need a creative outlet. So, after my professor introduced me to different fields that integrate my major and inner artist, I added a studio art minor—without ever before having taken an art class.

I’ve found a supportive community through my fellow alumni scholars, faculty, staff, and friends. I’m not just another student—everybody at Drake wants each individual to succeed. Perhaps most importantly, Drake has taught me that while my career is important, who I am as a person and how I spend my time outside of my job matters just as much.

So, who am I? Drake is helping me discover just that.

Everyday @ Drake

Drake students are doing something every day. Keep up with a few of them through their blogs.
