“Who are you?”
My First Year Seminar instructor continually asked us this question. And I’ve spent my time at Drake figuring out the answer.
I came here as a National Alumni Scholar and biochemistry, cell, and molecular biology major with dreams of attending medical school. Since then I’ve changed my trajectory, and I’ve discovered much more about myself. For example, through my involvement in the Student Activities Board and Student Senate, I found I need a creative outlet. So, after my professor introduced me to different fields that integrate my major and inner artist, I added a studio art minor—without ever before having taken an art class.
I’ve found a supportive community through my fellow alumni scholars, faculty, staff, and friends. I’m not just another student—everybody at Drake wants each individual to succeed. Perhaps most importantly, Drake has taught me that while my career is important, who I am as a person and how I spend my time outside of my job matters just as much.
So, who am I? Drake is helping me discover just that.
June, July, August: The Office of Admission is open for individual campus visits and tours Monday-Friday.
June -The application for Fall 2013 transfer admission will be accepted through the end of the month. Applications submitted after July 1 will be considered on a space-available basis.
July 4-5- Drake closed for Independence Day
August 1 - application opens for Fall 2014 admission
August 5-9- Iowa Private College Week
August 21 - First Year Student move-in day
August 26 - First day of fall semester
