Safety Resources
Student safety is of the utmost importance at Drake. There is a wide range of resources to help you stay safe, including campus security officers and transportation services.
Campus Safety Officers
Drake Campus Security is staffed by 20 full-time officers—all trained to assist in cases of medical emergencies—who patrol campus around the clock.
Des Moines Police Department
Guidelines on all the department’s services and policies. To reach the Des Moines police for non-emergency reasons, call 515-283-4811.
Drake's Bulldog Alert System
Using the Guardian Mobile Application, connect campus to real-time announcements of campus closings, security alerts, and much more.
Residence Hall Security
Residence Halls are locked at 11 p.m. every night, and anyone entering after that time must provide identification to the on-duty receptionist.
Safe Ride Program
Each evening this transportation service shuttles students to all campus locations, including those located in the immediate neighborhood.
Security Phones
Be immediately connected to Campus Security through the 46 security phones located inside buildings and along heavily traveled outdoor campus areas.
Security Cameras
There are several closed-circuit television cameras in key areas of academic buildings and throughout student parking lots. These cameras are always monitored by security staff.
Parking on Campus
