Health & Science Communication

Add in-demand skills to your professional portfolio.

Professionals who can effectively communicate complex medical and scientific concepts are in high demand across multiple fields: health care, law, journalism, agribusiness and academia, to name a few. This track of our flexible, interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Communication allows you to tailor your coursework to suit your career goals.

You will build on foundational classes in research, professional ethics, advanced writing, visual communication and digital strategies. You then customize your program by choosing from a menu of electives in digital storytelling, science and health, law and policy, business, leadership and brand communication. Your adviser will help you select the best classes to meet your needs.

New classes start every six weeks. This accelerated year-round schedule means it is possible for you to earn your degree in one year.

Alumni of SJMC graduate programs have used the skills and networking obtained through their degrees to help them advance within their companies, nonprofits and agencies; change careers; and start their own businesses. They’ve gained insight into their personal leadership styles, and professional strengths and areas for improvement.
