Since 1996, Drake University has hosted lectures delivered by the world’s most inspirational and knowledgeable figures in the fields of literature, music, film, environmentalism, athletics, history, politics and journalism.

More than 96 percent of Drake students find work or enroll in grad school within six months of graduation — a statistic that is encouraging in and of itself.

But one notable facet of that job placement rate lies with students who land prestigious opportunities abroad. In recent years, an extraordinary number of Drake’s graduates have received awards from the renowned Fulbright program to teach or conduct research in other countries — a trend mirrored by Drake professors.

Building on the legacy of Don Fletcher, retired Hallmark president and chair of the Drake University Board of Trustees, many alumni have pursued meaningful careers with Hallmark over the years.

This semester’s calendar spans 112 days peppered with on-campus events that promise myriad opportunities for involvement. Amid the basketball games, festivals and comedians are a number of great ways to get more engaged in campus life and the Des Moines community — and maybe even learn something.
