Chamber Choir

The Chamber Choir is Drake’s most select choral ensemble, with membership drawn from the Drake Choir.

The Chamber Choir is Drake's most select choral ensemble, with memberhsip drawn from the Drake Choir.  The Chamber Choir performs on campus at least four times each year and is the featured ensemble for the annual madrigal dinners (/music/ensembles/drakechoruses/chamberchoir/madrigaldinners/).  The ensemble tours regionally each spring and internationally every four years.  In 2014 the choir toured England, singing at St. Paul's Cathedral and St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London,  the cathedrals of Coventry, Ely, and Gloucester,  and the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.  Read the Chamber Choir's tour blog and view photos at http://www.drakechoir.blogspot.com. The Chamber Choir was selected by audition to perform for the conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) North Central Division in Madison, WI in February 2012.

Chamber Choir rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30-1:45 p.m. Auditions for the ensemble take place in April for returning students and during the weekend before the fall semester begins for new students.

The Drake University Chamber Choir, choirs from four Des Moines area high schools, and a professional orchestra will perform Gabriel Faure’s well-known Requiem at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9.
