About

The Nelson Institute was founded at Drake University in 2012 with generous support provided by R.W. and Mary Nelson, founders of Kemin Industries.

The institute serves Drake’s global engagement efforts by supporting activities that prepare students to become global citizens as well as those that harness the capacity of our faculty and staff to become better global mentors and peers of the Drake University community. The institute recognizes that globalization has elevated the socioeconomic and political conditions around the world creating new and emergent global interdependencies that will affect tomorrow’s workplace. The institute aspires to serve as a hub for grooming Drake’s future leaders for an increasingly globally interdependent world.
