DRAKE STUDENTS TO READ TO CHILDREN FOR BOOKS OR BUCKS CAMPAIGN

Students from Drake University will read to more than 300 children in kindergarten through fourth grade from Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School on Friday, April 19, in Cowles Library at Drake, 28th Street and University Avenue.

The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will read to each grade level for one half-hour. Following the readings, each grade will be taken on a tour of the Drake campus.

The reading program is being coordinated by the Drake Books or Bucks Campaign in celebration of National Library Week. As a part of the campaign, Drake students have collected 1,073 new or used children’s books. They've also raised $955 to buy new books. All of the books will be given to groups such as Head Start and the Youth Emergency Shelter Service.

For more information, call Marcia Keyser at Cowles Library at (515) 271-3989.
