FORMER
AMBASSADOR TO SPEAK AT DRAKE SEPT. 10
Former
U.S. Ambassador George E. Moose, a member of Diplomats and Military Commanders
for Change, will give a speech at Drake University on Friday, Sept. 10, on "The
U.S. Role in Globalization: Present and Future." The speech, which is free
and open to the public, will start at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Hall, Harmon
Fine Arts Center, 25th Street and Carpenter Avenue. A reception will follow.
A graduate of Grinnell College, Moose served as the representative of the United States to the European Office of the United Nations, with the rank of ambassador, from 1998 until May 2001. He had a long and distinguished career with the U.S. Department of State and served in a variety of positions, including assistant secretary of state for African affairs from 1993 to 1998. He previously served as alternate representative to the United Nations Security Council from 1991 to 1992, ambassador to the Republic of Senegal from 1988 to 1991 and ambassador to the Republic of Benin from 1983 to 1986.
