ART LECTURE SET FOR FEB. 6 AT DRAKE UNIVERSITY
Rachel Williams, assistant professor of art at the University of Iowa, will give
a lecture Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Drake University on feminist art and women's imagery
in contemporary art.
The lecture, titled "Feminist Art: The Personal and the Political," will
start at 6:30 p.m. in room 336 of the Harmon Fine Arts Center, 25th Street and Carpenter
Avenue. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is being held in conjunction
with the Anderson Gallery exhibition "Valerie R. Knowles, Installations."
Both the lecture and the exhibition, which continues through Feb. 21, are co-sponsored
by the Anderson Gallery and the Women's Studies program at Drake.
Knowles, who is teaching at Drake this year, is noted for her three-dimensional work
and installations that explore rebirth and regeneration cycles from a feminine perspective.
The Anderson Gallery in the Harmon Fine Arts Center is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday
through Sunday. For more information about the lecture and exhibition, call (515)
