DRAKE OFFERS MUSIC LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS

Music lessons for children and adults are offered by the Drake University Community School of Music, which begins the 16-week spring semester on Monday, Jan. 12. Instruction is available for children and adults at all levels in piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, harp, organ and music theory. Voice lessons are offered for those age 15 and older.

Openings also are available in the young violinst program, designed for children ages 3 through 8. This program provides 16 private lessons (20 minutes in length) and 12 group classes (30 minutes in length). Participants learn children's songs and pieces in the Suzuki style, reading notation (separate from playing the violin), counting rhythm and beginning theory. They also practice performing and group playing.
