DUO PIANISTS TO PERFORM AT DRAKE JULY 7
Duo pianists Chiu-Ling Lin and Ursula Wang will give a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday,
July 7, on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main at Drake University.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature music by Mozart,
Bizet, Poulenc and Brahms.
Lin and Wang grew up together in Taiwan, where their families encouraged their lifelong
dedication to music. In May of 2002, they made their debut as a new piano duo team
in Ottawa, Canada. They have a strong commitment to chamber music performance and
coaching, which reflects their deep belief in music education. Their concert will
be a celebration of their enduring friendship, as they share their love of music
with the audience.
Lin, professor of piano and chair of the music department at Drake, received her
bachelor's degree from New England Conservatory of Music and her master's and doctoral
degrees from Indiana University. She has appeared in performances in New York, Boston,
Chicago, England, and throughout the Far East. She has been a soloist with the Atlanta
Symphony, the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony, the Des Moines Symphony
and various orchestras in Iowa. Lin also is a member of the Drake Fine Arts Trio
and the principal keyboard player of the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra.
Wang graduated in piano performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and in
chamber music performance from the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Music in Belgium.
She has performed solo recitals as well as chamber music and piano duo concerts in
Baltimore, Chicago, Salt Lake City, New York, San Francisco, Belgium, Taiwan and
China. She has taught at the National Taiwan College of Arts and Tunghai University.
She now resides in Berkeley, Calif.
