DRAKE
THEATRE TO PRESENT 'SPEED-THE-PLOW'
On Thursday,
April 4, Drake University Theatre will open its production of "Speed-the-Plow,"
a play by David Mamet that provides a comic and scathing look at the world
of Hollywood. With caustic wit, Mamet poses the question of whether personal
and artistic integrity can coexist with sex, popular demand and the bottom
line.
Stacie O'Connor,
a senior from Des Moines majoring in theatre arts education, directs the
play, which focuses on a newly promoted film producer who faces a major
dilemma. His best and oldest friend delivers him the script that will
make both his name and fortune while his beautiful secretary brings him
the script that may save his soul.
Performances
will start at 8 p.m. April 4, 5 and 6 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7, in
Studio 55 of the Harmon Fine Arts Center, 25th Street and Carpenter Avenue.
Tickets are free with reservations. For reservations, call the Drake Fine
Arts Box Office at (515) 271-3841.
