DRAKE SPEAKER TO DISCUSS 'WOMEN AND WAR STORIES'
On Wednesday, March
26, University of Illinois professor and author Evelyne Accad will give a speech
at Drake University titled "From Bombs to Breast Cancer: Women and War Stories."
The speech, which is free and open to the public, will start at 4:30 p.m. in the
Honors Lounge of Medbury Hall, 1317 28th St.
Accad, who was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, is professor of French, comparative
literature, African studies, Middle East studies and women's studies at the University
of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Her books include "Wounding Words: A Woman's
Journal in Tunisia," "Sexuality and War: Literary Masks of the Middle
East" and "The Wounded Breast: Intimate Journeys Through Cancer."
