DRAKE
TO PRESENT TWO ALL-BEETHOVEN CONCERTS
Drake Universitys
four choral ensembles and the Drake Symphony Orchestra will present all-Beethoven
concerts on Sunday, Dec. 2, and Monday, Dec. 3, at 8 p.m. in the Performing
Arts Hall in the Harmon Fine Arts Center, 25th Street and Carpenter Avenue.
John Canarina
will conduct the Drake Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven's
Symphony No. 2 in D Major. Ann Howard Jones of Boston University will
serve as guest conductor of the orchestra and choruses in performances
of Beethoven's Mass in C Major.
Jones is
a faculty member at Boston University and the conductor of the Boston
University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Choruses. She was Robert
Shaws assistant with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Choruses
and served as musical assistant with the Robert Shaw Chamber Singers.
She has taught at the University of Georgia and the University of Illinois,
and at Wittenberg and Emory Universities. A native of Cresco, Iowa, Jones
earned her undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees at the University
of Iowa.
Tickets for
the concerts are $3 for students and $5 for non-students. They are available
through the Drake Fine Arts Box Office at 271-3841.
