DRAKE
THEATRE TO PRESENT 'FOOL FOR LOVE'
Drake University
Theatre will present Sam Shepard's "Fool for Love" at 8 p.m.
Dec. 6, 7, 8 and 9 in Studio 55 of the Harmon Fine Arts Center, 25th Street
and Carpenter Avenue.
"Fool
for Love" is arguably Shepard's purest and most beautiful play, says
Director Deena Conley, a new faculty member in Drake's Department of Theatre
Arts.
The play
tells the story of May and Eddie as they sit in a stark motel room, throwing
recriminations at each other while longing to take each other into their
arms. The connection they have to each other is physical, emotional and
everlasting.
"As
the action unfolds," Conley says, "the desperate nature of May
and Eddie's relationship becomes apparent they cannot get along
with, or without each other, yet neither can subdue their burning passion.
They long to be together and escape the curse of the past that haunts
them."
Tickets are
$4 for adults, $2 for students and senior citizens and free with a Drake
ID. Reservations are required due to limited seating. For reservations,
call the Drake Fine Arts Box Office at 271-3841.
