RICH LUZE RESIGNS AS INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT
FOR POSITION WITH WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY, ST. LOUIS
Richard Luze, interim vice president for institutional advancement at Drake University,
has resigned to take a senior development position at Washington University in St.
Louis. Luze will begin his new job shortly after the first of the year.
A 1965 Drake graduate, Luze became interim vice president at Drake in July 1998 after
his predecessor, Jack Ohle, was named president of Wartburg College. Before that
Luze had been associate vice president and executive director of development since
1992.
At Washington University, Luze will coordinate the work and activities of the national
advisory councils of the university’s colleges and schools. He will also work with
major gift prospects and be a member of the university’s advancement management team.
"It is has been an honor for me to work at my alma mater," Luze said. "I
recognize that very few development professionals have that opportunity. Drake is
well-poised for future success because of its academic reputation, all the dedicated
and talented people here and because of the strong leadership and vision that President
David Maxwell has brought to campus."
President Maxwell said of Luze’s departure, “Rich deserves the thanks of gratitude
of all at Drake for his hard work and devotion to the cause of advancing the university.
He has also been a source of continuity in the advancement division during an extraordinary
period of change. His contributions here will be missed, but we wish him every success
and happiness in St. Louis.”
A search committee headed by Neil Hamilton of the Drake Law School faculty is engaged
in a process to select a successor to Luze. |
